                "Called to Serve"

     The call of God is on your life even before you are born:  You are called to be saved.  That is your first call.  God places different calls on different men and women lives to be of service to Him in his Kingdom.  Some people are called into the art of ministering through music.

     Those whom he calls into the ministry of music are supposed to be well-trained with their tools and their gifts.  Their skills are usually developed before they answer the call into the ministry;  before they get saved.  Many musicians are unaware of the call of God on their lives, However, the call of God is irrevocable on them.  Since God created music for His glorification, surely the person that possesses the gift has a special call on his or her life.

Just for Thoughts

The singing of a hymn should be a great experience for Christians.  a hymn can be a prayer, a testiony, a praise, or an invitation to others.  Many of us apparently need to take the words we sing more seriously.

We sing "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and pray only a few minutes each day

We sing "Onward Christian Soldiers" and the wait to be drafted.

We sing "Oh, for a Thousand Tongues to Sing" and don't use the o.nes we have to speak for Christ.

We sing "Blest Be the Tie" and let the slightest offense sever it.

We sing "Serve the Lord with Gladness" and gripe about all we have to do

We sing "I Love to Tell the Story" and seldom mention Jesus to anybody.

We sing "Cast Thy Burden on the Lord" and then worry ourselves into a nervous breakdown.

We sing "The Whole Wide World for Jesus" and never invite our next-door neighbor to church
